Ground-mounted PV supports are divided into three types: single-column supports, double-column supports, and single-ground-pillar supports.
Single-column supports are supported by a single row of columns, with only one row of support foundations per unit. They mainly consist of columns, diagonal braces, rails (beams), module clamps, rail connectors, bolts, washers, and nut sliders. Columns are made of materials such as C-section steel, H-section steel, or square steel pipes. Single-column supports can reduce land construction work and are suitable for areas with complex terrain.
Double-column supports adopt a front-and-rear column design. They are mainly composed of front columns, rear columns, diagonal braces, rails (beams), rear supports, module clamps, rail connectors, bolts, washers, and nut sliders. Columns are made of materials like C-section steel, H-section steel, square steel pipes, or round steel pipes based on the size of the array. Other components use C-section steel, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, or other materials as needed. Double-column supports feature uniform force distribution and simple manufacturing, making them suitable for relatively flat areas.
Single-ground-pillar supports refer to the structure where one array unit is supported by a single pillar. Due to the single pillar for the entire array, the number of PV modules that can be installed on a single support is limited, usually 8, 12, 16, etc. They mainly consist of a pillar, longitudinal beams, rails (beams), module clamps, rail connectors, bolts, washers, and nut sliders. The pillar can be made of steel pipes or precast concrete pipes. Longitudinal beams and crossbeams typically use square steel pipes due to their extensive overhangs, while rails are made of C-section steel or aluminum alloy. This type of support is suitable for areas with high groundwater levels and abundant ground vegetation.
